Global Department Communications & Media

The Global department was founded in late 2014 and is responsible for Osaka YMCA's short and long term Global Internship programs, Global Youth Conference (GYC), Social Enterprise and Global Studies programs. It also facilitates and maintains partnerships with international stakeholders and provides translation and interpreting services across the organization. Currently it has a small but energetic team of 6 staff and various short-term and long-term interns.

The Global Internship Program falls within the international cultural exchange and youth development objectives of the Osaka YMCA Vision 2020 Strategic Plan.  It aims to empower young people by giving them a unique opportunity to develop their personal and professional skills in leadership, global citizenship, and cross cultural awareness while helping to position Osaka YMCA as a leader in international internship management.

Regarding accommodation during internship:

You will be staying at a shared apartment with your fellow interns. There will be times you will have to stay at Rokkosan YMCA or other types of accommodation we may provide.

The shared apartment will be provided mainly for Global Department's interns only, but will notify in advance if other interns will be staying there.

The apartment comes with 1 bedroom that has 4 beds (bunk beds) inside, a pull out sofa bed in the living room, kitchen, separate bathroom and shower, and a corner balcony. Towels and linen are provided. As the apartment is in a residential building, please refrain from talking in the hallway and main entrance to the building. Volume should be kept at a minimum after 10PM.

Maintenance of the apartment during your stay will be intern's responsibility. That incorporates doing the laundry, cleaning the apartment, restoring toiletries and groceries if you want to cook, and taking out the trash.

There will also be a hostel very close to Tosabori that Global has a partnership with. Global interns will be provided a special discount but will need to go through Global for reservations.

Hear from interns about their experience!
