GLOBAL DEPARTMENT

A BLOG ABOUT THE THINGS WE DO

Meet our 2017 GYC Facilitators

he Global Youth Conference this year will be facilitated by a talented and diverse team of passionate young people. As we speak, they’re busy preparing their workshops! Over the next five days we will be introducing them to you.

First up, Allie and Bobo. Allie is from Singapore, her motto is ‘sushi is love, sushi is life’. Bobo from Hong Kong loves the Harry Potter series and eating watermelon.

Up next is Cass and Lexie, two very inspiring young women who can’t wait to meet the participants at this year’s GYC. Cass is from Singapore, loves Disney movies and her favourite food is her granny’s soup. Lexie comes from the Land Down Under (Australia) where she volunteers for the Y and spends her downtime completing jigsaw puzzles (blank side up for the extra challenge).

Meet Celine and Juli. Celine is from Taiwan and Singapore but she currently lives in England (which explains her British accent!). Celine plays the violin and cello in an orchestra, and loves tuna steak and soba noodles. Juli is from Colombia! She loves dancing the salsa and snapping her fingers when she is excited. Her favourite food is empanadas (a Spanish or Latin American stuffed bread).

Introducing Tim (Singapore) and Tessa (Australia).

Tim’s favourite food is ramen, and he has a fear of heights– but this hasn’t stopped him from bunjee jumping and skydiving!

Tessa loves all things dance-related. Her favourite movie is Centre Stage and she does Broadway Jazz classes every week. Her favourite food is pasta with spaghetti sauce.

And last but not least, we have Achan and Rita! Achan is from right here in Japan, just a few stations away from Mt Rokko. He enjoys sushi, ramen, reading and the movie Taxi Driver. Rita is from Taiwan, but has been a student in America, Singapore, France and now Osaka – a woman of the world! Rita’s favourite food is takoyaki or matcha icecream.

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know our GYC facilitators over the last five days, they are all super excited to meet the participants and introduce themselves in person come 7 August!
