Unearth Cambodia Blog Entry #3 days 8 - 10
On the last leg of the journey we took a 6 hour long connecting bus ride to "Sihanouk Village" resort and enjoyed a short break before enjoying some of the local activities and tourist spots.
We took a speed boat to get swimming and diving to a tiny little island called "Koh Ron" which is situated just off the coast. Then we took one of Cambodia's famous "Took Took" bike taxis to a quiet beach side location to relax and enjoy some "me" time.
The next day we visited a children's support college known as the "Good Will Center" where we did activities with kids such as drawing / arts and playing soccer. We were very happy to be able to put smiles on the kids faces again. We also painted some of the school walls in preparation for a new wall art design.
On the last night of our Unearth journey we came together to have a delicious dinner at a restaurant in the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. It was with heavy hearts that we said good-bye to each other.
And now we head back to our home countries. As both participating representatives of YMCA and global citizens we came together on this journey and learnt many wonderful things that will help us make the world a better place back in our communities.
旅の最後は、6時間の長距離バスを乗り継いで「シアヌークビル」というリゾート地に移動し、しばしの休暇を楽しみました。
近くにある秘島「コー・ロン島」に、スピードボートで移動して飛び込みを楽しむもよし、トゥクトゥクと呼ばれるカンボジアのバイクタクシーで「オートレスビーチ」に行き、静かな海岸ゆっくり過ごすもよし、各々が自由な時間を過ごしました。
翌日はグッドウィルセンターと呼ばれる補習校で、子どもたちとお絵描きをしたり、サッカーボールを使った遊びをしたりしました。今回もまた引き続き、カンボジアの子どもたちの笑顔に癒されました。その他、壁の絵を描きかえるためのペンキ塗りもしました。
そして昨晩は、全員が揃って過ごせる最後の夜でした。首都プノンペンのレストランで、最後の夕食を共にし、別れを惜しみました。
これからそれぞれが母国に帰ります。今回の旅で得た学びや気づきを活かし、参加者一人ひとりが、一YMCA人として、地球市民として、世界や社会を良くしていく働きができますように。
