GLOBAL DEPARTMENT

A BLOG ABOUT THE THINGS WE DO

WHY YOU SHOULD BE A GLOBAL CITIZEN

‘We believe in the power of young leaders to make Global Change’. This is the message carried by Osaka YMCA, who is inviting young people from all over the globe to gather together to face down one of the biggest concerns facing our global community; the Environment. From August 6th to the 9th up to 100 international delegates will connect, workshop and collaborate on practical solutions to current environmental issues at the 2019 Global Youth Conference.

Past participant and President of the GYC Youth Committee Miho Higuchi, urges young people to partner themselves with others that also own their place in the global community and involve themselves in organizations that are working to build up the global community. “It is important for us to realize that we can become true global leaders, we have that power within us. The GYC is a great place to help us come to know this”, she said.

In 2019, our lives are more globalized than ever and we can no longer shield ourselves from the reality of the hardships being experienced worldwide. You might often find yourself questioning how one person can make an impact? It begins with shifting to a global mindset and owning your own global citizenship.

Global citizens press for the success of everyone, they can see outside themselves and the country that they live in to the core notion that all humans share a common desire for human rights, environmental protection and the right to peace. The issues facing us on a global scale; poverty, economic struggles, war and climate change are insurmountable when left to be solved by one nation. Global issues require global solutions.

How can you make your Global Citizenship count? Connect with other young people from around the globe, experience Japan and create real change, there are still places left at the 2019 Global Youth Conference. Secure your place today by heading to the Global Youth Conference Applications page.
