PARTNERSHIPS FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Osaka City Suito Kokusai Junior and Senior High School (Suito Kokusai) and Osaka YMCA’s Global Department have embarked upon an exciting partnership with the common goal of youth empowerment and progress.

Osaka YMCA’s Global Department is offering leadership development opportunities to the students of Suito Kokusai through its global and youth engagement programs such as the upcoming Global Youth Conference. Students attending will have the opportunity to connect with other young people from across the globe, participate in interactive workshops led by Global Youth Leaders and develop their English skills.

In developing this partnership, Suito Kokusai has accepted their first International Intern; Ramya Kurmala from Australia. From the start of June Ramya has been acting as an assistant teacher at Suito Kokusai while also preparing some of the students for the GYC. In its 5th year, the GYC and its international delegates are turning their attention to an issue facing us all – the Environment. Delegates will be participating in interactive, challenging and thought provoking workshops conducted in English. In preparation for the GYC, Ramya will be leading Suito Kokusai’s students in lessons delving into the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, plastic pollution and climate change, ensuring their understanding of English will set them up for the most impactful experience possible.

Ramya will be completing the second half of her internship as a GYC facilitator which will provide additional support for the students as they challenge themselves to problem solving in English with their peers from all over the world.
